If you’ve never had a site professionally cleaned after a build or renovation in Brisbane, it’s worth knowing what’s actually involved before you book one in — mainly so you can plan the timing correctly and know what to expect when the team arrives.

It’s Not the Same as a Regular Clean

A post-construction clean is a different job to routine office or house cleaning. Construction leaves behind fine dust that settles into every surface, gap and fitting, along with adhesive residue, paint marks, offcuts and general debris. Standard cleaning equipment and products often aren’t enough to shift it — it needs a team that knows how to handle building dust specifically, and the right equipment to do it properly.

What’s Typically Covered

A thorough post-construction clean usually includes: removing dust from all surfaces, fittings and fixtures; clearing leftover materials, packaging and general site debris; detailed window and glass cleaning to remove paint, silicone or adhesive marks; wiping down cabinetry, benchtops and hardware; and a full floor clean — vacuuming and mopping depending on the flooring type. A final detail pass usually follows, checking corners, skirting boards and fittings that get missed in a general sweep.

Timing Matters

The clean typically happens after trades have finished but before the final walk-through or handover. Booking too early means trades still working will undo the clean; booking too late risks delaying handover, settlement or move-in. If your project has a fixed date — a settlement, an inspection, a tenant move-in — it’s worth locking in the clean as soon as you have a realistic completion date from your Brisbane builder, rather than waiting until the last minute.

What to Prepare on Your End

Before the cleaning team arrives, it helps if major trade work and rubbish removal (skips, bulk waste) have already happened — the clean covers residue and detail work, not bulk debris removal. Having power and water available on-site is also worth confirming in advance.

How Long It Takes
